Uh oh... RS5 in my neighborhood!
So I LOVE my S5. But there's a sepang blue titanium pkg RS5 parked in the driveway of a house down the street from me (I live in so cal). I drive past it every day on my way to work so this really hits close to home.
With three years left on my S5 warranty, I think I know where this fantasy is headed!

Don't worry my friend.
3 years to salivate on an RS5 will be torture for you, if you have your eyes on the RS5. Here's something to cool you down.
The RS5 will drink much more gas, since it needs to reach higher RPM s(8250 for the max horsepower, and 4000 RPM to get 315 lbs of torque). Better to splurge on gas money and drive your S5 hard & full throttle and still have money left. Pedal to the metal on the S5 until 120 mph+ always puts a smile on the face.

Agree with Ayap. Just drive the S5 harder. I love that RS5 but it seems the law of diminishing returns could be at work. With the S5 we have a large chunk of the fun of the RS5 at a lower price.
Ayap's point of winding the RS5 engine higher is a good one. Its not like the RS5 power is that much higher than S5 at low RPMs.

What is your observed gas mileage in the S5? Not that it really matters, but just curious. Mine is averaging just under 18 MPG in the RS5 with very spirited mixed driving. I could do much better (easily over 20) but those higher revs are so intoxicating. This model does not have the gas guzzler tax by the way.

Hey Mstams ..
I'm averaging around 22.5 MPG now on my S5 - 98% of the time in Dynamic mode setting and easily hitting 95-105 mph occasionally when driving in the highway. This is mixed city/highway. I could do 25 MPG if 95%-98% highway driving (in Dynamic mode), but I'd rather do 100mph+ on the highway and get 23 MPG if there are no cops LOL. I often see a 400+ mile range on my computer when I fill up to full tank, which I always do(see attached). So, a bit better than the RS5's 17+MPG. That was my observe MPG this summer while traveling with my wife and with luggage loaded on the trunk. I've never done long-distance highway travel alone - so 26 MPG is possible without the wife and luggage weight LOL

Cool. So we're talking about $580-725 per year fuel savings at $4/gal and 12-15k miles. I don't know... I'm thinking it's worth it! ;-)
