For those interested in highway mileage.....
Drove up to Las Vegas from Orange County a couple of days ago to see the CES. Here are the stats from the display:
Total - miles 252
Time - 3 hours 22 minutes
Ave. MPH - 74
Ave MPG - 23.2
This was door to door.
Pretty good mileage considering I was cruising at 80-85 most of the time, up and down the hills. Driving back home today.
This was in an S5 Tip.

Makes sense...if you haven't modified your trip comp then real mileage is about 21mpg.
Which is 1 mpg below the EPA highway rating for the '08. 3 mpg below EPA for the '09. (Not sure exactly why the '09 is rated much better than the '08 though.)
Either way still good for 80+ MPH and 4.2L.

I've had three Audis...all were 10% optimistic. Search around others have seen the same.
Don't know why it is this way...it just is.

My odometer is correct but the trip computer is optimistic. The computed instantaneous mileage for my 08 A5 3.2L V6 would imply that I was averaging around 27 mpg on the highway. Using the average computer I'm currently getting a reading of 23 during the winter and 24 to 24.5 during the summer. Consistently, when I compute my mileage based on the amount of gas used over the range of miles computed by my odometer I'm averaging 7% lower than indicated by my average computer readout; i.e., 22.3 in the summer and 21.4 in the winter. My A4 instaneous and average readouts were almost dead on but the A5 is off.
