Take possession of my new 2012 A5 cab s-line tomorrow
Needless to say I'm very excited. I figured sharing with other Audi owners would be a way to vent.
My goal was an all wheel drive cab. I live in Canada and have lots of snow in the winter to drive. I also get to drive through the Rockies regularly. I knew going into this that my budget didn't go to the s5. And yet I also wanted to get one for the beginning of summer and have months to enjoy the cab experience. Ironically, by the time I was done buying the fully loaded a5 I wondered if I should go with base s5. In the end, I went for style and cruise over power.
The test drive was fun. I'd never driven shift paddles before, and I grew up driving manual. There were clearly points where I think I terrified the sales rep with my aggressive cornering (dynamic + shift paddles = fun). Quattro is amazing, However, the Canadian options are slim from what I can tell. So long as I was patient in downshifting (rather than dropping 2-3 gears in a go) it worked well. This is no race car, but it is a fun cruiser that has some pep up and go.
Oh and its black. The s-line seats (cloth and leather) worked for me. Nice with shorts on. Highway rootless driving was surprisingly unbuffeted.
Once I pick it up I'll come back and update with a photo or two.
