The guy will get arrested in some states that require a 'front license plate'. Without it, he will have to drive stealth so cop cars don't notice the missing plate. But with a car like the RS5, he'll be a cop magnet.

North Carolina is ideal for the RS5 since we dont require a front plate.

Depends on the state. Virginia near DC is not bad. Police there have better things to do than pull you over for the front plate.

However, I do suspect if you have been pulled over for a moving violation, you would be ticketed for the missing front plate.

When I was shopping for a new car last year, RS5 was on the top of my list. With 2 kids and unavailability from last year, an A7 was a natural choice.

So, can anyone educate me how and why the exhaust sounds like that during up and downshifting?

When downshifting, its important to rev match. With a manual, you would give a quick tap to the gas before shifting. As for upshifting- no idea why it makes that sound. I guess for theater?

Arrested? As in locked up and thrown in the pokey for a non moving violation? Seems a bit harsh don't you think?

My research indicates that in most states a violation of the FLP law results in a fix it ticket, or nominal fine. In CA. They can do either and the fine is 25 bucks. As long as I don't have to go share a cell with Charles Manson, I'll take my chances and run without it..

Huh? How'd you get an August build? I ordered in May and don't yet have a build date. So far as I know, all dealer allocations are already spoken for. Also, you're very lucky, persuasive, or possess some inappropriate pictures, to get anything off MSRP (unless you're talking the Audi Loyalty discount).

Agree. Live in a FLP-required state and when I figured out the cost of adding a license plate holder to my UrS4 was equal to the cost of five FLP tickets, I went without. Got away with it for three years with no tickets.

Momentum Audi in Houston has a black RS5 sitting on the showroom floor right now....I didn't see a sold sticker on it either...
