Default RS5... Any new information?

Ive read in some articles the engine for the RS5 was going to be a twin turbo V8, however in another article I came across it said it was going to be the 4.2L V8 in the RS4... any ideas?

Default just speculation

Best guesses from Audi hints here and there include a 4.0 twin-turbo V8.
Supposed to debut next month at NAIAS, we'll find out then.

Default Actually, if they are going to use a force fed gasoline V8..... ( a bit long)

in the next RS 4 and RS 5 at all, it will be a supercharged gasoline 4L V8, NOT a twin turbocharged 4L V8.

But given the trend to much or substantially higher fuel economy , the next RS4 and RS 5 will most likely (if NOT definitely) have a supercharged gasoline DOHC 24V 3.2L FSI V6 with or without valve-lift with a 7,000, 7,200, 7,300 or 7,500 RPM redline (a redline of 7,500 RPM is as high as an engine can safely and reliably go with any kind of forced induction, be it a supercharger, twin turbochargers, nitrous oxide, etcetera) most likely (again, if NOT definitely) producing 429/435/320 SAE hp/DIN hp/kw from 6,250 RPM to 6,700, 6,900, 7,000 or 7,200 RPM and most likely (yet again, if NOT definitely) produce 376 lbs/ft of torque/510 nm from 2,100, 2,400 or 2,600 RPM to 6,250 RPM.

All of the following applies to the whole entire Volkswagen/Audi Group, or VAG for short (including Porsche):

Eventually (in a few years time, to be exact), twin turbochargers will be reserved for diesel engines (single turbochargers will be abandoned completely for all engines) with all gasoline engines having a choice of regular aspiration or a supercharger (where the supercharged gasoline engines as well as the twin turbocharged diesel engines will have .1L or .2L less displacement than the same engines in regular aspirated gasoline form).

But on the following VAG models only: R and RS models from Audi, all Porsche models, all Bentley models, all Lamborghini models and the Bugatti, the supercharged gasoline and twin turbocharged diesel engines will have the same displacement that these same engines have in regularly aspirated gasoline form.

All of the sources that are saying that the only force fed gasoline engines that will have a supercharger are the I4 and V6 engines with all other gasoline engines getting twin turbochargers are either delusional, stupid or flat out lying. And, all people here and anywhere else that believe this need to take notice of that as they are believing false information.

All of the sources that are also saying that the next S6 and RS 6, S7, RS 7 and next S8 will still have a gasoline V10 (where these sources are saying that the gasoline V10 will be supercharged or twin turbocharged for the next RS 6 and RS 7, regularly aspirated for the next S6 and S7 and either regularly aspirated, supercharged or twin turbocharged next S8) are also either delusional, stupid or flat out lying. And, all people here and anywhere else that also believe this also need to take notice of that as they are also believing false information here as well.

The truth is there will only be four cylinder counts for all engines throughout VAG. Those four cylinder counts will be the following: 4 and 5 (inline only) and 6 and 8 (V only; a 30 or 60 degree wide angle for transversely mounted engines and a 90 degree wide angle for longitudinally mounted engines).

Again, all of the above is because of the trend to much or substantially higher fuel economy with no sacrifice (actually, with a gain or huge gain, depending on the aspect of performance) in performance along with a gain or huge gain in all conceivable areas that are positive with less or a lot less weight, better or much better front to rear weight distribution and a much or substantially lower overall cost, even if purchase or lease prices end up being higher.

All of the above will all translate to resale values being much or substantially higher worldwide, including North America. There is absolutely everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose with all of VAG doing all of the above.

Default Somebody here on AudiWorld said the same thing I said a while back

I believe it was an employee for Audi who sometimes posts on the B7 RS 4 forum.
