Default Nav traffic colors stopped showing

Anyone had issues with the traffic colors (green, orange, red) not showing along highways after renewing their Sirius subscription? I have the 2010 model 3G nav, and recently renewed when my 3-month trial period ended. I specifically called and asked Sirius whether I needed to add a specific service to continue receiving the traffic data and they said "no, that's part of your nav system." I'm starting to think they were wrong, but wondering if other here have had similar issues?

The Sirius Customer Rep probably didn't know what they were talking about. The Traffic Service is an additional $3.99/mo charge in addition the basic subscription you're paying.

Here is the link to their site showing this.

I just ordered my A5 with Nav. I thought the Nav was DVD based. Can someone explain the connection with Sirius and what is chargeable?

The nav itself is DVD based but traffic information is through sirius, you have to pay them or else your car won't have a clue what's going on out thre.

Agreed. Google maps integration with traffic would be the best. Kinda jealous BMW offers google search (although it's through a separate pay service, not cell). I guess I could just look up addresses on the phone and then punch it in.

The 2010 nav is not DVD-based. As with most current systems it uses a hard disk to store map information.

Sirius provides only the live traffic information (traffic speed and incident/construction reports). If you don't pay, you can still use your all of your nav features except for traffic info and dynamic routing (based on speeds).

BTW, the 3G MMI has a separate ESN for the data radio used for traffic (different from the main one used to receive Sirius programming). You need to call Sirius back with that ESN to register for traffic service.

Do you know how it gets updates then? Previous Nav systems I had required you to buy a new DVD every few years to get road updates, new POIs, etc.

It will update from a DVD - but save the new info to the hard drive - kind of like installing something on your PC...
