Milltek or AWE exhaust for S5?
#11
I'm also considering these 2 exhausts. From the replies, I think the Milltek non-res sounds like what I'm looking for. I'm a bit concerned about having a tiptronic. Most people I've talked to have installed exhausts on manuals. Do you have any drone with your tip and the Milltek? My wife would hate it and I'd have to listen to her drone. I can't deal with 1 drone, let alone 2. Also, have you tuned your car at all (GIAC vs APR)? Wondering if that makes any difference in sound.
Thanks.
Thanks.

No drone at all with my tip even when driving in the normal "D" mode. In fact when in the "s" mode (where I normally leave it) the matching downshift revs sound awesome and the normal upshifting patterns, hwy crusing etc. is all fine a drone free. The Milltek is nicely tuned/designed for this engine/car. The sound/performance is great with all driving styles. I would definitely recommend the non-res version from Milltek

AWE isn't too loud
I have the AWE with Down pipes, and I gotta say it is not obnoxiously loud. The first week I though it might have been, but it tones down quite a bit. It really just sounds amazing, if you have the radio on, not even too loud, you will barely notice it.

It's not loud inside. The muffler section follows the same OEM location (rear area) so the sound is concentrated to the back and out. In contrast the AWE system places the muffler right in the center of your exhaust path (right underneath your seat?) I would think it would add interior noise and drone
