Default How can the M3 be the whole package when all it has is performance? Just for performance, I would

get the new Subaru Impreza WRX sti, much cheaper than M3 and better performance....

Default fanboys? We're owners who are happy with a product.

If a coupe with a 355 hp V8 and 325 lbs-ft of torque that comes in a proper manual, 4 wheel drive, and can do 0-60 in around 5 seconds is missing performance for you then you must be hard to satisfy. This car is fantastic and is a great package for the price. Sounds like you're a little bitter that your 335 doesn't get the looks that the S5 does.

Default i guess we have to expect a little "bitterness" from SOME BMW owners..........after all

if I saw someone with the same car on evey corner i would be upset also. As far as performance, i dont think most people would say that the S5 is missing that element. unless of course, you are looking to "eat other cars for breakfast"...in which case, you better get back to High School....your going to miss homeroom.

Default Re: M3 too pricy? They are selling at 57K fully loaded!

Really, ones that were comparably equipped to the S5 that I configured were in the $73K range. That's the with new auto-manual double clutch and similar packages. I'd love to see the $57K fully loaded specs as I believe that's the base price for the coupe.

Default Re: you do know the other two cars will eat the s5 for breakfast right... performance wise..

Fair enough, but my need to go from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and top speed of 177 MPH isn't as important as the total package of the S5. Don't get me wrong, I love the M3, I just could't convince myself (and more importantly, my wife) to part with another $10K to have it.
The C63 4 door just didn't do it for me looks wise.

Default Re: If 0-60 times and hp are all someone is looking for...

then this isn't the car for them. There's several cars on the market, costing slightly more and a lot less, that will fit the bill and trump the S5. In real world, day-to-day driving I could care less about 5-6 tens of a second difference...the car still brings a grin to my face.

Guess I'm just past the point in my life where I need to play who has the biggest *ick

It's East Bay BMW at Pleasanton, CA. That $57k M3 i saw was listed at an MSRP of $72K. M-DCT etc...all the works. Same dealership had fully loaded 335i (MSRP 50k) at $39K. X5's in the 60s were down 10K to 50s.
Check out their online specials:

Thanks for the follow-up on that. I suspect in browsing those quickly, they are 2008 demos they're trying to sell. But, in an event still good prices. Too bad I'm in Philadelphia area.
