Default Jaguar XF versus Audi S5

I test drove both cars and have hard time decide which car to get.

Default Re: Jaguar XF versus Audi S5

I guess you need to figure out what class of car to get. Sports GT or Sports Sedan. Then test drive apples to apples. Throw in the new S4 if you can wait and decide Sports Sedan.

Default I drove the Xf last weekend. It was impressive, but it honestly didn't feel as good as the S5.

Did you drive the supercharged version? I drove the non-SC version. I felt it had fairly high NVH, and while fit-and-finish/materials/design were good, it's still far behind the Audi. It drove nicely; decent turn-in and steering feel, good handling. Power was adequate. Overall, it's a major step forward, but the S5 felt like a rocketship afterward.

Default It is a major improvement for Jag, and from the rear looks incredible; possibly the...

sexiest sedan derriere in a long, long time. However, the front is uninspired and the headlights especially leave a lot to be desired. Interior, as you pointed out, has some cool features, but overall I think it'll feel dated and gadgety long before the Audi's will.

Default I like the look of the new Jaguars, they definitely raised their game.

Exterior-wise on the XF. They learned that the retro look is dead. All sequential shift and 300bhp is a good offering for base models.

Regarding the XK, the 3/4 rear view is it's best. The front isn't all that spectacular and I would struggle with the thought of paying 75k for only 300bhp on that model.

Default dependable?

I know this is only one example, and even people here have had problems with S5s, but with the management of Jaguar and history i would be apprehensive about buying one.

http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/jaguar/jaguar-xf/8885111-1.html</a

Default Jaguar ranks 5th in problems per thousand

Range Rover is dead last in 28th Place and Audi ranks middle of the pack at 15th I believe. The XF supercharged is a great deal if you are leasing, if you are looking to purchase stay with the Audi is will have far better resale. Beside the Audi is Quattro and the XF is rear drive. We sell them both and its a tie at three each...

Default Is Audi's dependability rating based on the inclusion of VW?

When I was car shopping last year I recall Consumer Reports noted that VW pulls Audi down from what would be a better rating.

It suggested buying the A4, A6 and S4 based on reliability and resale. I am by no means someone who lives by Consumer Reports (or i'd be driving a honda/toyota) but its nice to see a German car company getting approval from those reports. Mo' money mo' problems(more gadgets that can break), I guess.
