is this the end? switch off engine and check oil level
Hey there, I had a "switch off the engine and check oil level" warning and had to take it to my mechanic and he found some broken pieces inside the pan (attached pictures). He advise me to not do anything since the labor will cost me 2000-3500$ to open up everything and see what is broken inside. Another open is to buy a used engine and labor will be around 5-6K. Maybe someone here can give me any insight into what this looks like. My a5 has an oil consumption issue and infotainment is out so I check the dipstick and add as needed.
For now, the car is sitting in the garage and not driving.
09 A5 3.2, 153K, regular service and mostly wear and tear and oil consumption issue.

It looks to me like pieces of the plastic timing chain guides have broken off. It's a tough call, but the cost of labor to repair would probably cost close to a new-to-you used/refurbished engine.

Hey, man thanks. This is the same thing my mechanic told me! Sucks. I will trade this in.
