Default Re: I'm trying to decide between 335i, S5 and M3

There's an off chance the M3 could come in at the $55k-$60k range, but I think $65k is far more likely, and that's before the multitude of options BMW doesn't include as standard (I wonder if the M3 comes without a car alarm like the 3 series...). It is competing with the RS4 afterall.

Plus, that's assuming 1) they will even make enough '08 models for demand and you'll be one of those who gets one and 2) you'll even be able to buy it at MSRP. Even without production/allocation limitations I fully expect the M3 to consistently go for $10k over MSRP in the first year.

Default I don't think the M3 will be anywhere near S5 pricing. RS4 pricing would seem a better guide to

go off of, which would put it into the 70k-range not including the usual 10k markup, courtesy of BMW's dealership network. The S5 is meant to be a rung lower than the M3 with the RS5 neatly boxing in the M3 by offering better performance, and even more $$$

I agree that the M3 will offer better resale but the S5 will still be much better than average. What amazes me is the RS4 with pre-owned examples still commanding near new prices.

Default "I learned...I'd rather spend 200 more a month to be in something I love..."

Couldn't agree more. I have a serious case of buyers remorse and that's why it'll be over 20 months before I buy in the Spring. Not buying an S5 this year because I'd seriously kick myself if DSG came out in the spring. I'll be buying mine and I don't mind paying a premium on the S5 over the 335i if it's what I'll love for 10 years, however that has it's limits.

I can't see M3 being only 10k below M5 base... I'm thinking 60k base for M3

I have no interest in owning a BMW.
