Default Buy A5 now or wait for facelift?

My nearly new 2011 MB E350 has no 'soul' so I'm buying a new A5 (auto, prem plus, sport, B and O, 19" wheels). Area Audi dealers are discounting 2012 A5s about $2500-$3000 below MSRP. Considering it's the end of the year and a facelift is just months away, how much of a discount is reasonable to expect? Should i wait? Also, am I crazy to swap my ride?

Same debate here, but since I will most likely have to order my A5 to get the right color/options/manual, I am going to wait until April (?) and order the new A5 for spring/summer delivery (speculation).

You could do a lot better than $3K off, I think, but it may depend on where you live and from how far away you're willing to buy the car. I bought a 2012 A5 Cab 2 months ago and got it at $400 over invoice and got them to also throw in a clear bra and audicare. Cash on the last day of the month in a rainy/cold place made the difference perhaps :-)

How do you feel about the new nose ? Unless you hate the new look as much as some of the folks around here, I would say wait and go with the 2013 version because it is the newer and more up to date car. Generally speaking, the savings will equal out with depreciation when it is time for you to sell the A5 in the future.

You raise a great point Tifosi. New cars depreciate rapidly enough. New cars that look dated in 6 months depreciate much, much faster. I'll have to use that when I talk to the dealer and see if they are willing to discount very deeply. If not, I'll simply wait!

Take a look at the other post with the pic of the '13 A5 that one of the forum members spotted. I was not fond of the new look, but after looking at that pic I would definitely wait.

Lucky your area has inventory! DC area there is basically zero and therefore no discounts!

I am personally waiting as I prefer the new look and I like a newer car.

I need a car right away so I have to get a 2012. I think the improved MMI and additional steering wheel buttons would have been nice. I am starting to like the new nose on it. I am still very fond of the current LED design though. What I am most happy about is that the Prestige now has more standard including the adaptive headlights. I was mad that it was offered but not in the USA.

My local dealers don't have large inventories of A5/S5s at any time. I don't see them getting aggressive with pricing until the other ones are due to arrive or are there already (if any remain). A below invoice price sounds unlikely.

You can't go wrong either way. Both the original and the facelifted
A5/S5 is still one of the nicest looking cars on the road.
