Default Brake pad warning light

2013 S5 Cab with 42k miles, brake pad warning light just came on tonight. I plan to take her in next week for new pads/rotors, but traveling 150-200 miles mostly highway this weekend. My question is once the light comes on, am I doing any harm by waiting 4-5 days before having it fixed?

Assume you had no problems, but surprised you think you need new rotors. My '13 RS5 just turned 56k and on original pads/rotors.

Chances are you wont make another 42k miles on the existing rotors so probably a better time to have them all replaced at once rather than having to take it in again sooner to have it done..They can measure the rotors to see how much life they safely have left and you can decide how much of a bet you want to make on them..

Have an apt to have the brakes repaired. Audi wants $1100 for front brakes/rotors. Eurotech in Marietta, $550. I have had good luck with Eurotech in the past.

The problem is that a shop won't do just the pads because the rotors are invariably worn to the audi wear limit, which is only 1mm per side!!!

Just get a set of pads, open the brake bleeder and lever back the pads, close the bleeder, drop the new ones in, bleed the brakes (you should probably flush the entire system, takes a liter or so), and move on.

Prices for pads are all over the map, I like Hawk HP or OEM Audi.
