Bought an RS5 today! Deals/pricing details
Here is my story. I agreed on an RS5 today.
During this week I decided to hunt for and finalize a deal on an RS5. My desired specs were:
Black (prefer Panther, but Phantom ok)
Black int (would accept lunar silver)
Nav
Sport
Titanium ( I went back and forth on this and decided the black out package with the 20s is what I want and what looks best)
So the above specs with Panther is an MSRP of $77,920. I found and negotiated the following deals on this car. I have a trade and the fair value on it is $17,000 based on research. So deals above the $17K trade price were really more of a discount off MSRP IMO. Every dealer is different but these are 2 deals I had/have:
Deal #1 Trade 18,500, MSRP discount 500, total discount 19,000 location 1,000 miles away
Deal #2 Trade 17,500, MSRP discount 250, total discount 17,750 location 250 miles away
Again these deals are off the $77,920 MSRP.
A 3rd deal was on a non titanium car with the 20s and sport. MSRP was $76,000 and my trade was 18,000 and MSRP discount was 1,000 for a total discount of 19,000. I walked on this car since I grew to love the black out package and this car had alcantara.
So as of last night, I'm ready to take deal #2. It is closer and I will have at least $1K getting the car to and my trade to deal#1 location.
And then I call my local dealer. I test drove their car last week and fell in love with the RS5. But it had the driver's assist package that I didn't want to pay $3K for. But today, with 2 deals in hand, it was leverage time!
This car is phantom black, black int, driver's assist, nav, sport, titanium, MSRP $80,570. My price before title and tax is $61,100 (plus free weather mats). The total discount (w/o mats) was $19,470 and broke down $15,500 for my trade and $3,970 off MSRP. Since they undervalued my trade, the net MSRP discount was actually $2,470 by my computations based on $17K for my trade.
I am stoked. I am basically paying $1K more than deal #2 but getting the $3K driver's assist package in return.
I searched nationwide for RS5 and there were 37 out there early this week. They are moving fast but you can definitely get and should expect MSRP discounts. It helps to have a trade as Audi is loathe to do much MSRP discounting and they like to put the money somewhere else, normally.
I get the car next week.
