Agreed, I think it is to remain competitive in the market Audi will have to introduce the RS5 in the United States. Though the RS5 would make up a tiny piece of the market demand Audi will bring it to compete with BMW and other competitors.

Front bumper is slightly modified with higher ventilation areas for coolers as well as lower rear and exhaust system upgraded, matching RS6 Avant.
If the RS 5's "gasoline DOHC 32V 4.2L TFSI V8 with or without VL (VL being short for valve-lift)" has no turbochargers and is producing 505 hp, it is obviously supercharged.

No offense, but I think your brother's friend who works for the Volkswagen/Audi Group up in Germany is sorely misinformed or being downright dishonest with you.

Most likely, the RS 5 (both the coupe and convertible) will be sold worldwide (including North America) weighing 150-200 pounds less than the S5 coupe and convertible (due to more use of lighter weight yet stronger metals) to make the mere 7 lb/ft torque/10 nm difference between the S5 and RS 5 feel more like 14 to 44 lbs/ft/20 to 50 nm.

And, most likely, the RS 5 will have a regularly aspirated gasoline DOHC 32V 4.2L FSI V8 with or without VL with an 8,600 RPM redline producing 444/450/331 SAE hp/DIN hp/kw @ 8,400 RPM and 332 lbs/ft of torque/450 nm from 4,500-6,500 RPM or 444/450/331 SAE hp/DIN hp/kw @ 8,400 RPM and 339 lbs/ft of torque/460 nm from 5,000-7,000 RPM with the following two transmission choices: Getrag ML600 (with a maximum capacity of 442 lbs/ft of torque/600 nm; hence the ML600 designation) six-speed manual transmission standard and the yet to be released Borg Warner DL750 (with a maximum capacity of 516 lbs/ft of torque/750 nm hence the DL750 designation) being an [expensive] option (about $1,500 to $1,800 United States Dollars).

And, BTW, the S5 is the most in demand Audi in North America right now. Your brother’s friend at the Volkswagen /Audi Group up in Germany was clearly misinformed or clearly being dishonest with you (which is very painfully obvious either way).

I made a few minor mistakes before.

The yet to be released Borg Warner DL750 seven-speed (which could eventually be an eight-speed, though that is far from definite) Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) S Tronic transmission (I forgot to mention before that this transmission is a Direct Shift Gearbox S Tronic transmission; I also forgot to mention before that it will be a seven-speed transmission and could eventually be an eight-speed transmission-again, this transmission eventually being an eight-speed is far from definite) will have a maximum capacity of 553lbs/ft of torque/750 nm (hence the DL750 designation), not a maximum capacity of 516 lbs/ft of torque (which is 700 nm and not 750 nm).

I apologize about those few minor mistakes.

Here in Westchester county NYS (a pretty affluent area) there are several Audi dealers to choose form. All have S5's on the lots - FWIW

OK.. I will throw this out there to any sales or Audi brand specialists who can give me a sales date for the RS5.

We are ready to place an order with a dealer anywhere in North America who can give us a real answer as to when the RS5 will arrive in North America.
I am holding on a B8 S4 purchase until we have a confirmation of Rs5 arriving or not arriving in North America.

Anyone have some hard facts?

Please email me fabryce@gmgracing.com with any info

Thanks guys!!!

RS5 will make it here on a 4.2 with 450 to 500hp. Germany may see it next year. I'll gray market one if I have to. first car i actually love RS can only be better.

Actually, the RS 5's regularly aspirated gasoline DOHC 32V 4.2L FSI V8 (with or without valve-lift or VL for short) will produce 444/450/331 SAE hp/DIN hp/kw (at 8,400 RPM) and 332 lbs-ft of torque/450 nm from 4,500 to 6,500 RPM or 339 lbs-ft of torque/460 nm from 5,000 to 7,000 RPM (no more, no less).

I want RS5 as well, after having my S5, it seems a little anti-climactic to get the RS5 though ... I do want it, however.
