AUDI RS5 not coming to US
I just heard that the RS5 won't be coming to the US due to emissions levels, gazzler taxes, overall poor S5 sales and market situation. RS5 is being tested as we speak and it will produce 505hp over the same S5 V8 TFSI engine, no turbos. claimed 0-60 in 4.5sec.. meaning not even a full second behind the S5 and 155mph top speed as usual. Front bumper is slightly modified with higher ventilation areas for coolers as well as lower rear and exhaust system upgraded, matching RS6 Avant.

rs5 will be in the US. it is too huge of a market to pass-up on. the VW group knows that and I doubt the gas guzzler issue is something real, especially considering some of the higher horses in its stable.
the more people that talk about if the rs5 is/isn't coming is the more likelihood that it will be here.
audi is on a tear with increasing marketshare and market appearance starting with the r8 introduction and super bowl ads to complement it.

My sources are very good, my brother's friend works for the VW Corporation up in Germany. I heard RS5 matches RS6 performance and RS6 does 60mph in 4.5sec with a V10 Lambo engine and regardless of its 505, so I can imagine the upgraded current S5 V8 meeting that time, also take into account that the V8 has nearly 90hp on top of the 3.2 engine and the 3.2 does 60 5.8 seconds ( 5.1sec in S5 although it should be faster ). I think Audi did a good job on the V6TFSI and not so good on the V8.
FYI there are S5's on stand-by in most dealers and hundreds used with low mileage posted everywhere, yahoo, aol, etc. it could be people just looking to make a good business deal... or perhaps the gas gazzler issue? in my local dealer there is a full equipped S5, is been there for months and winter has arrived so i see it there until april 2010 at least.. winters up here last that long.

Since they already stated that there won't be a new RS4 for the U.S., it's hard to believe they would also forgo the RS5. Having finally come up with a worthy competitor to the BMW 335 you would think they'd like to have something that can compete with the M3, even if only in coupe form.

Some how I doubt this. Just last week we got word the V10 R8 Spyder would make it to US soil, I don't see Audi passing on sending the RS5. Unless the V8 they're using in there will require too much work to pass US emissions. Still bummed about getting the pass on the TT-RS and RS6. I just don't see that happening with the RS5.
