My Audi dealer confirmed 2015 RS5 for me in January. For context I was expressing interest in buying one. I ended up ordering a 2014. Rumour is 2015 gets a more powerful V6 twin turbo. I wanted the NA V8.

all rumours though. Nothing confirmed.

I wouldn't count on it. The original plan as stated by Scott Keogh, President of AoA was to bring a total of 1500 RS5 Coupe over two model years to the US and later I heard plus 500 cabrios. The RS cars are traditionally being discontinued shortly before the next generation is being announced. See TTRS, previous RS4 as examples. We will see the B9 A5 next year and the next RS5 probably about two years after that.

and I would have thought the exact same thing too. I even discussed the pattern of 2 years for an rs at the dealer. The salesman then went and confirmed a 2015 RS5 with the sales manager.

For context, they had every incentive to not tell me this as we were talking about a 2014 rs5.

that said, they could had misinformation. However, I've seen a number of rumour reports too. Apparently, the RS5 had a lot of demand created by the cap of 1500 to the US.

However, I agree. I wouldn't count on it. And I didn't. I ordered a 2014 to be sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if Audi did ramp up availability of RS models because I sure do see a lot more M and AMG vehicles on the road. But I agree with 'swiss and definitely don't think we'll see a next-gen RS5 at the same time as the A5.

I've heard the next RS5 would get the 4.0T, but I also heard it won't fit in the current car. Porsche has a twin-turbo 3.6 V6 that might have the numbers for an RS5, and while there are chassis similarities between Audi and Porsche (Q5/Macan), do they share any engines currently?

Car and Driver did a sketch of the new A5 and I am not at all impressed. Something tells me they're way off though.

My bet is that there will NOT be a 2015 RS5.

The new model comes in 2016..

The 2016 RS5 will have a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 and offer a stick as well as autobox..

That's all a lot of C&D speculation. I very much doubt the V8 TT and manual gearbox. The current V8 TT is too big to fit in the current chassis, so unless the next car is significantly bigger, they'll have to shrink the engine somehow. As for the manual gearbox, the head of Quattro Gmbh has already stated that there won't be another manual RS car. The lackluster sales of the TTRS 6MT pretty much sealed the fate. Moreover the DSG is capturing long time MT buyers like myself, further shrinking the potential market for a manual transmission.

Keep in mind, Audi couldn't even make the numbers work for bringing the A3 6MT sedan to the US and that's a volume car with the US market as it's primary target. If they do make a 6MT manual and that's a big if, there is even a smaller chance that it will come to the US. Chances are that they'll only bring one transmission to the US as they did with the TTRS. They just made the mistake of bringing the wrong transmission. Pretty much everybody agreed that the TTRS DSG was a much better car than the TTRS 6MT.

BTW, I personally think that even the S4/5 6MT is in danger with the S3 pushing them upmarket. We might see an S3 6MT, but possibly only S4/5 DSG.

As I said previously there is a 2015 RS5 that my 2014 was pushed back to for september. I pm'd a few ppl to show them email's from AOA regarding this but none got back to me. Hopefully this puts it to rest for some of the know it all's on the threads.
