My Audi RS5 b8.5 has a very loud ticking noise which is not consistent, comes and goes but never goes completely. Sound is from one side, swapped sides with the high pressure fuel pumps, however the noise is still on the same side. Video of sound is attached but the video does not demonstrate the loudness of the ticking noise. Unlisted video is here . I would not drive it or run it. Send the Oil out for an Oil analysis. I hate to say it but I think you have a Rod bearing going bad. The Oil analysis will tell you what wear metals are in the Oil and how elevated they are. How many miles on the motor? What kind of oil have you been using and what oil change intervals? Audi's 10k oil change intervals are not enough.
