I am in the market for a new car and the Audi S5 really has my intention. A bit pricey compared to the A5. My question is, does the extra 100+ HP justify the significant jump in price?

Test drive both and come to your own conclusion. It's all a matter of perspective, at the end of the day, you're signing on the dotted line.

I had a 2009 A5 (254 hp V-6), a 2012 S5 (350 hp V-8) and now a 2013 RS5 (450 hp V-8). Each a very nice car in its own niche.

I had a 2010 A5 and now a 2013 S5 and if you can afford it, yes it is worth it. For me it wasn't just the extra HP but the various styling details and interior upgrades as well. This is not a knock on the A5 at all as I loved that car as well.

I had a 2011 A5. Drove an S5 a year after purchase, and just had to have an S5 after 10 minutes behind the wheel.

I never have liked the slight "lag" in acceleration you get with a Turbo engine (A5) compared to no lag with the Supercharged V-6 S5.
Also there are many upgrades with an S5, inside and out. It's just a better ride all the way around, well worth the extra $$ in my opinion especially if you spread the cost difference out over how many years you'll own the vehicle and how many hours per week, per year you'll spend in the car...........enjoying a superior machine and a superior experience.
