Sport Differential System Fault
I've been getting this message when I start up my S5. It doesn't seem to affect driving at all but I'm worried it could just be a ticking time bomb. I took it to a dealer and they said that it was just rusty connectors. It tracks for the NY winters that I'm in but it doesn't seem right. It seems to not appear as often when it's colder. It was intermitant at first but not it's almost every start. Sometimes I'll drive a bit stop for gas and then it's off after. Is there anything else it could be? I'm wondering if just a fluid flush would do the trick. Here's the notes that I got from the dealer.
There's a S4 around me that's being parted out. I think the part numbers for the diffs are the same but is there anything different between models or if it comes down to it could I pick up a part and swap it out?

S4 Diff should work fine. How many miles on your Diff? Do you know what the code/fault is? Has it been serviced regularly? Did the dealer service it or at least check the fluid level as their answer of rusty connections is ridiculous, I wouldn't go back to them.

My car is around 91k miles. It hasn't been acting up or doing anything weird just the code that comes on. I wasn't able to get the actual faults that they scanned. I have no idea what they actually checked I would hope the fluid but I'm not so sure now. I'll see if I can get it topped off this month when I go for an inspection. I try to avoid dealers if at all possible but sometimes life gets busy. They quoted me around $3k for front wheel bearings which is what I took in in for but I ended up doing it myself for around $200 in parts.
