Default Thinking of buying an 06-07 A3

I'm about to pull the trigger on either an 06 or 07 A3 for my son. They both have mileage around 100k. Hoping to get some feedback from A3 owners. I've searched and found there to be some DSG issues and carbon build up, aside from minor things like squeaky doors, etc. can anyone offer some advice on what to look out for.

Thanks in advance!

'06 models have problems with the A/C compressor failing and having the cam follower for the high-pressure fuel pump self destruct. The last one is bad because it usually kills the fuel pump and damages the intake cam. Audi has issued a warranty extension for this--I believe it goes to 10 years/120,000 miles.

Hey guys, ok so I'm torn between two A3's and I'm trying to make a final decision between the two. Maybe with some feedback from you guys here it'll make it easier to decide.

#1: Blue 2006 A3 2.0T TFSI Automatic @ 115K (non s-line) = $8,500
drives great, exterior is good but its what you would expect from a used 2006, minor chips and light surface scratches on front and rear bumpers, just needs brakes and a good detail.
I would expect to do some maintenance such as timing belt, cam followers, etc...

#2: Silver 2009 A3 2.0T TFSI Automatic @ 100K (non s-line) = $10,500
drives great, brakes and tires are fine, interior is good, exterior is good, but the rear bumper is chipped worse than the other and has been touched up, the passenger side dash area just above the glove box has been punched and is not dented with an imprint of a fist. lol, the previous owner's kid punched it and has been that way ever since. I believe an upholstery shop could make it look better if not fix it, but something to consider being that it's literally in your face when you get in the car.

I know the 06-07 had some issues, not sure if the 09's had the same DSG problems or not but the benefit I'm really taking into consideration is that the 09 has a timing chain and doesn't need to be replaced.

Which would you choose?
