Question about your note: Our A4 has "electronic throttle lag" meaning the throttle doesn't move at what your foot does - and I really dislike this and Audi says there is no fix other than put it in sport mode where it is less pronounced.
Do you know if that issue has been resolved on the A3? I am considering a new car - perhaps the 2 series or Golf R. I would be getting rid of the old 2002 A4, and may consider a look at the A3 again.

It's the low horsepower the car has until the exhaust pressure can spin-up the turbo. The specs say 1800 rpms, but it FELT more like 2200.
(and I'm almost sure the Throttle-by-wire software is the same in the VW versions of the 2.0)

I am at my dealer waiting for my 2011 A4 maintenance, and I scheduled an appointment to test drive a 2015 A3. I test drove a Premium model with MMI Navigation Plus, 2.0T with Quattro.
I found the interior leg room not much different than my A4. [*]The car is very peppy. Gas pedal depression results in rapid acceleration off the line. Engine revs very quickly.[*]Not sure if it is a positive comment but I felt like I was driving a FWD vehicle. I sensed torque in the front pulling me. Very controlled experience, like driving a go-cart. [*]If I bought this car I would definitely get the sport package which includes paddle shifters.[/LIST]

Single, seperate, dual exhaust outlets are a nice return to how Audi once was.
Still unsure if the sport package includes a lowered suspension. US website doesn't list it.

that's because the A3 use's a haldex system which is basically 100% front wheel drive car to the wheel slips then activate's the awd system. It's a reactive system instead of a proactive system compared to your A4. still a great driving car though .
