PPF Full front or drivers package?

That said, if I did it over again I would probably just get it done since it's not a huge amount of extra money and it makes cleaning easier / provides peace of mind.

Part of me does not want to do anything related to ceramic or PPF. Between PPF and winter tires, I am halfway to a 3 year lease on a SUV and then i can just garage this car when the weather is bad.

I got full front ppf, but even with that I had a rock that went through the ppf and chipped paint underneath the ppf on the hood. Very small but when I zoom in with camera I can see the penetration. I think it depends on where you live and what kind of road conditions car will be exposed to. I heard if you track the car it will be very useful, also have to cover rear doors/fender area.

I think I'm doing Full Front & Ceramic Coat. I have 2 shops that are quoting me around $4,250 for the job. One shop is the "best in town" but moves a lot more inventory at a time, and the other is a 21 year old kid who only does a few cars a week. The kid mentioned it would be 1 day each for cleaning, paint Prep, PPF and Ceramic. 4 days total. I had my doubt about his experience, but when i went to the shop he had a brand new white GT3 RS taken apart for full PPF with 15 miles on it. Who would you guys use? Old faithful or the young buck?

He warranties his work. Young buck uses Suntek Ultra with 10 Year warranty and Modesta BC-08 Ceramic coat. Old Faithfull uses Xpel ultimate plus 10 year and Xpel Fusion Plus Ceramic Coat.

How have the grills been handled for those who have ppf? My guy said he would do the solid piece in the middle but not the honeycomb north and south. What about a pillars , black gloss on windows and leading trim above windshield.

I am going to go with Old Faithful. They use better film and came out a bit cheaper in the end. They were willing to do small add ons for no charge where the other shop was going to charge me for every piece of PPF added to my car.

While I sometimes consider giving work to someone just starting out, stuff like PPF I’d rather leave to the more experienced folks. Nothing against the new kid but I just prefer a bit more peace of mind using the other shop. While I had my whole car done they did not do the grill itself. Every small black trim and carbon was done but nothing on the grill. Just recently my car got hit by a 5” rock that came off a cement truck going the other way. I’m very thankful it didn’t go through the windshield and hit me directly. I’m also thankful it missed the body as PPF would have done very little to protect it. It did hit and gouge my left rear wheel. I’d say I was lucky as I was doing about 40 and the truck probably 35. Needless to say I was extremely nervous getting out to inspect the damage. I can live with just the wheel being hit. I captured the ordeal on my dashcam but am only guessing it came from the cement truck as I didn’t see it actually come off. I did save the rock and am glad I had PPF done but in this case it wouldn’t have helped.
