The activation uses data from Audi that is used worldwide except for North America due to our regulations. The headlights your car has are designed to have the full matrix function active just like everywhere but North America so you aren't having the headlights or car do anything it's not built or designed to do.

With that said any modification can have warranty implications. This activation is essentially undetectable since it's factory Audi data, but in the event of a headlight failure you could always make a remote appointment to set the car back to stock headlight functionality. Note that so far have yet to see any car with a headlight issue after this activation.
