Default tire & wheel question...

Purchased a '17 S3 Premium+ 3 weeks ago.

please help...

my car has the factory 18" wheels. Will the 19" wheels from a Black optic or Dynamic pkg fit my car? with or with any kind of modifications like spacers?

TIA

Yes, as long as the 19" wheels are spec'd for the 2017 S3.

they will fit. ECS tuning has a spacer kit specifically for our cars, as well.

They will fit but as you probably know, as soon a you spec 19" wheels on the configurator you must spec mag ride. Your suspension may require some after market suspension mods to satisfy your needs.

Why is that anyway? Just wondering why magnetic ride is required by Audi when ordering 19s.

I think it is just how Audi packages the options together. I do not think 19" wheels 'need' the upgraded suspension. Sounds absurd to me. My 2011 VW GTI had its standard suspension and you can order it with 19" wheels to go with it. They do not require any suspension upgrades in order for that car to use 19" wheels.

Yeah, just like my last '14 S4 with 19s (part of Black Optic package) but it didn't have mag ride. Wondering if this is a new thing, or specific to the S3. I agree, it shouldn't be required to have mag ride as the suspension has nothing to do with it.

Different brake packages would make a difference for sure. Larger caliper requires more clearance, etc. But definitely should not matter for magnetic vs non magnetic suspension.

My guess - only a guess - is that the 19" wheel/tire package, with the standard suspension, is going to produce a harsher ride. Adding the magnetic ride will allow you to switch up the firmness of the suspension.

It's like how if you choose A/S tires, Audi governs the top speed to 130mph. That's probably because they supply H-rated tires.

Again, just a guess.

In theory, I can see that. However, my observations so far with mag ride is it's pretty stiff, even in "Comfort" mode. I'm actually surprised. Granted I've only got around 450 miles on the odometer so far and have had limited experience with the car, it is harsh no matter what the settings are IMO. Have not driven a standard suspension equipped S3 so i can't compare. Personally I don't mind stiff suspension setups as all of my cars have pretty much been that way, including aftermarket coilovers, etc. Passengers may not be as forgiving
