Default RS3 Brake Pads!

Hello Audi-Friends,

Last weekend the break sensor came on warning me that my brake pads have reached their limit. I've got 16k miles on the RS3 knowing that those brakes are made for performance rather than durability.

My question, where should I get the replacement pads and should I stick with the OEM pads or are there any others that tried different pads? Choosing non OEM pads will this do anything to the car warranty?

Thanks guys, looking forward to your feedback.

"Of course it's Brake pads not break pads"! Give me a break!! LOL

My opinion,

Get the Audi Dealer to replace and service your breaks on your 2018 RS3 if that's the car your posting the question about.
Warranty issues get handled easily when the Audi Dealer does the work just keep that in mind.
And believe me when I say they (Audi Dealer Service Department) will check to see what they have done service wise to your's.

Good-Luck,
Terry

What year is your car? If 2018 is it early or late 2018 as they have different rotors. I know they’ve revised the rotors 3 times so wondering if the latest revision is still having short brake life.

Good question Iceberg_S5! I've got one of the first 2018 RS3's in July 2017! Where should I check for the rotor style/type?

You can find more info (from the link below) as others have complained about the same issue. You can also find pictures of the 3 rotor revisions..

Rev 1 has a uniform patterns of the holes.
Rev 2 has a random hole pattern
Rev 3 has random hole pattern like rev 2 but the smaller holes are dimples (not actual holes that go all the way through the rotor).

Thanks for the info! I checked my rotors, looks like I've got version 2 on mine. See image:

so do 2019 RS3's have version 3 brakes with the dimples?

for people with 2018's I bet there hasn't been enough miles yet but are they supposed to last longer?

I would assume 2019s have Rev 3. Some 2018s have had short brake life. Hoping the rev 3 contributes to a normal brake life as I’m looking to get an RS3 soon.

I have the v3 rotors with just over 31,000 miles. No problems thus far. Zero grooves or markings on the rotors. My pads are looking slightly low/thin. I plan to change the pads only, within the coming weeks. I drive the car aggressively but a lot of highway driving as the mileage shows. BTW, my production date was 10/17. Car arrived at dealer 11/29/17.

Thats good to know. Is your car a 2017 or 2018?
