Remote Start

I have heard that it has to do with regulations over in Germany not allowing remote start and Audi not wanting to go through the hassle of having that system added in just for the American market. Not sure how accurate that is.

I've heard similar, remote start is common only on American cars actually.

Modern cars have clever cooling systems which provide heat very quickly unlike old school clunkers where you had to stuff cardboard in front of the rad. Another possible, if rare downside. is accidental activation in a closed space (think senior moments).

The German market thing would make sense if it weren't for the fact that all other German manufacturers offer it and most cars are made in Germany.
You can install an aftermarket setup, but you have to have a second key and take out the immobilizer RFID to install in the system to make it work. Basically permanently disabling that feature on your car.

Mercedes and BMW are German brands and have remote start. Not sure why Audi doesn't offer it.
