Default As do I, but with DSG being so great............

If Audi only wants to spend the money ship 1 version of any car to the US, DSG will win almost any time over a conventional 6mt. More people will buy the DSG equiped car.

Sad but true.

Default The sticker on the one I drove was over $29K

My Honda Fit was under $18K and has a nicer interior (sans the vinyl looking leather seats).

Default lol, whatever. It was voted best interior in its class. Better than Si/MS3/Mini/WRX/Cobalt etc...

Still not as nice as the A3, but nice compared to its class.

Default I went the GTI route.

Overall, I'm very happy with the GTI. Very fun and very well designed and constructed for its class and price range.

I'd say the A3 has an edge in interior materials and a bunch of little touches (stuff like door hinges), and overall I preferred the service I got at Audi dealerships over the VW dealerships in my area.

I went back and forth on whether to get a new or used A3 or a new GTI, and VW had lease deals that made it just too easy to get into the GTI. The near base model GTI I got is a really great value. The decision might have been tougher if I was considering a loaded GTI vs. an A3.

Someday I hope to be back in an Audi, but I really don't have any regrets going with the GTI.

The interior while not as nice as the A3, is still one of the best on the market...

Default Auto climate control, and for 09 a longer bumper to bumper warranty along with open sky.........

Is the only correct +'s to the A3 that you listed. I get a loaner Passat or Jetta when my car goes in, the 09's have free maint for 36k miles. To pay for that, the bumper2bumper is 3/36 yet powertrain is still 5/60.

I will give you the "grown up" look and feel, but still a great car either way. It has won countless awards.

The A3 is gets praised as well, its just expensive.

Default re: "expensive", at least when looking used, I've seen similar pricing ($17k) for similar specs

That's what moved me from looking at a used GTi to a used A3...
