Typical cost for new windshield??? Assaulted by police.
I was just driving through downtown houston and was stopped at a light, left hand lane. Cop walks out into the crosswalk passed my car and a couple more. No signaling or anything, just kinda standing there. Light turns green so i start to go. He runs over, pounds my hood with his hand and then smashes my windshield with his fist.
I get out and start yelling wtf you broke my windshield. He tells me i'm blocking traffic, get back in my car. I move it over and get back out to talk to him and he shuts down. Won't give me a name, badge number, nothing. So i call 911 and now i have half a dozen houston cops hanging out taking reports from both of us. ******** ended up being from Spring, picking up some extra work downtown today. So now i have to go through his dept to try to get them to do something about my windshield. HPD took my statement and his and of course his contradicts mine. But i do have a witness. Everyone behind me was like WTF!? But i only grabbed one name/number. Gotta call them and have them call both spring and houston departments with their statements.
Now i gotta go get a new windshield

Not to make you feel even worse, but ...
Mass. has no deductible on glass, so when my wife's '03 Passat developed an expanding crack a few weeks ago, the glass guy pulled into our driveway and replaced the windshield in about 40 minutes and the bill came to $0.
OK, to make you feel less worse, we pay insane premiums [grin]. But that's due to insane Mass. drivers, not the glass replacement "deal."
