PDA holder. Vent mount.
There's a link below. It'll direct you to a thread from last month. I was asking for suggestions for an IPOD or PDA holder for the A3. Some awesome suggestions thanks! However, I was cleaning out a bunch of drawers in my garage and found something that was given to me as a gift prolly 2-3 years ago!? Unopened. It's a cheesy universal holder. I'm serious. It's a typical $5-9 item that was probably grabbed waiting in the checkout line at target or autozone! But hey it works.
I put a piece of velcro on the face of the mount. I put another piece on the rear of my PDA. Now this universal mount will keep a good grip of the Palm Pilot. I'm certain that a vehicle specific or even pda specific holder would be 50x better. So I may look to replace it. But for now.... it's cool.
Anyway, the mount hooks up with a vent. It has a horizontal clip that grabs the horizontal vent bars. It's pretty cool b/c the mount grabs the vent bar and you can aim the vent towards the driver. After about 5 seconds you can really get the vent/mount to remain in the position you want. And it won't move over bumps.
The Palm Tx I'm running has wifi and bluetooth. The device you see near the windshield is the bluetooth gps receiver for navigation on the palm device. I have a thread on the this Palm Tx - it's available in my signature, just click the photo. I ended up getting the Tx b/c I wanted to upgrade and get a better pda device and get a navigation solution all in one. The Tx has an SD card slot which is awesome. I carry a lot of music and digital photos. It's basically an Ipod, Pda, photo album, and nav device. The system is based on TomTom navigation software. It's ok. I haven't figured out if I can update the maps or not yet.
Anyway, there are better ideas for mounts in the link below. But I wanted to let everyone know that I really like the position of the left/center vent for holding a pda or ipod. I can see and reach it easily. I really hated the windshield suction cup holder that came with the nav pkg. I'm glad it's now in a drawer in my garage

I have the proclip mount for my iPod for the center console below the...
climate control on the passenger side. It works great, doesnt get in the way at all, but is really a bit over priced.
