Options for front plate mounting
I just purchased an A3 in another state (PA) that doesn't require front plates so it has the filler plate.
I live in NJ where front plates are required. I know one option would be to purchase the insert to replace my filler panel but what other ways might I mount it?
It really looks nice without the front plate - wish there was a way to get away without it. I was wondering if there was a way to make a plastic license plate (color copier + laminator perhaps) that I could just double stick tape or tie wrap somehow.
I would appreciate any suggestions and/or photos.
Thanks.

I wouldn't go with the plastic substitute plate. Even if it is legal (I don't know), it's odd enough to attract the attention of police.
Then there's always the possibility that it is legal in Jersey but not in another two plate state.
If it's legal in New Jersey, it SHOULD be OK everywhere. But the bureaucratic nonsense you might have to go through wouldn't be worth it to me.
Of course, that's just me.

if you decide to get the front plate insert, i would post a trade here, I'm sure there a quite a few people looking for the plate filler that would trade theirs for yours...Including myself, depending on which model you have.
I have a 2006 a3 2.0t non-sline bumper, btw

Towhook mounted plate
I wish I had a filler plate option. For the A6, they just drill right into the Bumber, so I am looking for a less invasive option, the towhook mounted plate
I am looking at this for my A6:
http://usmillworks.com/
talking with the guy, who also sells on ebay, he said he has products for Audi
