My car has a new feature!
Raining here today - driving around with the wipers on, I notice that they're on intermittent as I'm sitting at a light; could have sworn that they were on low. I take off on the green, and they go to low. I stop again, and they return to intermittent. Never noticed this before in a year and a half, and no, I don't have the rain sensor rig. Anybody else notice this?
For an 'entry' level car, the A3 has an incredible amount of wiper engineering - auto rear wipe in reverse, the 'unpark' feature, and the occasional blade movement that keeps the front wipers from taking a set.
It's the stuff like this that'll keep me coming back to Audi (providing the!$$#%% dealer proves capable of servicing it).

It's for changing blades, or to keep your wipers from freezing in the trough..
during snow and ice. After you turn the car off, just bump the stalk within 30 seconds or so, and the wipers let go of the drive, allowing you to position them where you want.

Mine behave differently than what you're describing.
After bumpiing the stalk (with engine off), the wipers arms swing high enough to clear the hood, but they're still engaged with the wiper motor.

I stand corrected.. I never actually tried to move the wiper arms after "unparking" them,
I just assumed they were locked in that position. I tried it tonight and they can be moved.
