losing my mind trying to find the perfect tire for '06 A3 2.0t
I was VERY disappointed with the Michelin Pilot Sports we put on our car at purchase since the road noise is menacing. I'm interested in Falken's since i have them on my vintage car and have been very happy with them. a colleague of mine swears by the Pirelli P-zero nero but i'm not sure.. i know this is an open wound kind of question but i need to make a purchase by memorial day for we are driving to B.C. i want a decent sport tire that is QUIET. i will sacrifice price and sport for low noise.
Thanks for listening.

I put them on my 02 A4 also before I sold it after the 9090's wore out. Theperson buying the car had a nice set of almost new tires.
Then I got the A3 and they came with the sportmaxx's so I felt much better about the car.

I was going to get Pirelli Zero Nero but was talked out of it by the Tirerack rep and talked into..
a set of Sumitomo HTR Z III's. These recently won the Tirerack max performance tire shootout against some big name, expensive tires. For the money you cannot beat these and even if they were very expensive they would be great. Very quiet, very responsive, great in the wet and awesome on dry pavement. They have an aggressive, asymmetric design that has all the aspects of a great max performance tire like continous center rib, big shoulder blocks, wide circumferential grooves and fairly stiff sidewalls. Definitely worth a shot.

Pleasantly surprised by General Exclaim UHPs
Prior owner of my car replaced the OEMs with these right before I bought the car. He extolled their performance/praise on tirerack.com, blah, blah. I thought, "Generals? Meh." However, they have proven to be a very good all-around tire, especially for the price. Good ride, handling, and noise thus far, and I think I'm going to get 35K+ miles out of them. Having made the compromise on my old B5 S4 (tired of the $ for 10K miles out of wonderful Pole Position S03s, switched to more economical Fuzion ZRi), the Generals are a very good tire for the $.

No, they don't pull too much. That tends to happens the wider the tire, not so much from the tread..
I've found. Not sure about the price on 17" but the 225/40 18" was like $108 per tire. Very good price. Just call tirerack or go online.
Did you get the APR exhaust? You'll love it with the new exhaust software upgrade.

http://Tirerack.com</a
