Default A3 Down for the count?

Fun little story to top off my morning. I was driving on the freeway, a metal box (about 1ft. by 2ft) comes flying off of a truck at about 70 MPH. It bounces off a car to my right, i swerve to avoid my tires being ripped off and causing a horrible accident, so the box of doom rips through my undercarriage...it then proceeds to bounce and smash the lights of a car behind me. This happened right at my exit so i get off and head home (like a 1 min. drive). I stop the car and look underneath to see all my oil gushing out and gashes and flaps hanging down like a mangled piece of road kill. Im about to cry...not really, but really. Dealing with insurance and repair...any comments or anything are appreciated.

Default That sux for sure. Our freeways are trash heaps and trucks aren't inspected often enough.

Highway patrol spends too much time on the wrong stuff.

ugh that really sucks. I just got my Audi A3 on Sunday and had a big rock hit my windshield and leave a quarter sized crack in my window. I was ticked. But to have something like this happen wow that is horrible. I hope the damage is easily fixable!

Default Agree, whole heartedly--safety first. You were LUCKY, SurferA3. Get it towed to Audi for a new

oil pan, etc. It shouldn't be too bad... maybe a dented exhaust pipe or muffler too. Could've been much worse.

I knew someone who had to deal with a similar road debris situation. Furniture came off of idiot's pickup truck. Cars to the left, insufficient shoulder to the right, no time to brake. He had to veer right... over a curb... tore up his underside so bad, the car was just a grand or so short of being totalled.

Default You should not have driven home....

Without knowing WTD the damage was. Could easily have been leaking fuel or brake fluid...

Insurance may not cover engine damage due to loss of oil/contamination if they want to be di<kheads.
