I installed the speakers in that car less than 2 years ago. They are good. You need more power.
I had those speakers powered by a 5 ch amp and a 10" sub in the hatch and it sounded awesome. The amp had 50w on ch 1-4 and 200w mono sub ch.
You won't find any better speakers for bass to fit in the stock locations w/o cutting up the interior. I would invest in a more powerful head unit or amp or both. To get really good bass you'll need some type of sub. Maybe a powered bass tube or a 8"-10" sub in a small box. Bigger speaker with more power is the only way to get bass.

When you get the cash together a high power head unit and powered bass tube will do the trick
That will be minimal cost and an easy installation. All you would need is power/ground and signal to the bass tube. You could pick them both up used and really get a deal.

in do time. i was just wondering if it was me or the speakers not playing that loud
now i know why its not playing that loud, which will be added to the to do list.
