Starter cable solutions...
The gf's car wouldn't start the other day, and long story short, the fat red wire between the starter and the solenoid has corroded and come apart.
My question is: how do I resolve this?
A shop said I can't solder it, and that I need a new starter. I'm about ready to drill a hole in the wire and the stub on the starter and secure it with a small bolt. Does this sound okay to do?
Thanks in advance everyone

I don't see why not,
as long as the cable is long enough. Make sure it's clean and tight so it doesn't heat up from resistance at the junction. If nothing else, it's a cheap fix to try. If it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything except maybe the price of a bolt.
