So, tried to crack the crank bolt loose on my B3. jammed/locked the pulley, had big bar & socket

Sounds like my day.
Flights all days with students. I have this lazy student that just doesn't get it. If someone asked me if I wanted to dig a ditch for two hours or go fly with him.... I'd ask for a shovel...

Dunno, never had a problem as long as the compressor was up to it.
I used to have a smaller CP 1/2", but it only had around 400lb-ft reversing. It would not work for axles and BARELY worked on crank bolts.
Mance, your gun should have no problem. I've watched guys use 3/4 and 1" guns at work (three compressors and about 350USG in tanks) break bolts loose on trucks that hadn't been touched in 30-40 years (rear ends, reduction hubs, transfer cases, etc). No permanent thread locking compound should have that much hold-ability.
BTW, never ever ever jump on a breaker bar. VERY good way to hurt yourself when it snaps!

negative luck. Nothing I tried worked... Keegan (koupekrazy) came home and didn't have any better
ideas short of pulling off the oil pan and jamming the crank with a piece of wood. So that'll be the plan of attack over the next day or two. Once that big V-belt pulley is off then I can see what the **** is going on.
I did get my S4 fixed, yay, so a bit of vindication for me today at least =)

I've NEVER seen this happen before, a long with a bunch of other veterans. Don't worry too much
but I suppose it is proof that stupid ish like this can happen. For what it's worth this is the first time in the engine's/car's lifetime that the timing belt has been serviced. For you I'd just cross my fingers and hope for the best....most of the jobs don't turn out as mine has.

Hey man, as horrible as it sounds at least you can milk him for the flight time....knowing that
realistically & honestly they aren't going to get anywhere or amount to anything (pilot wise). But if you can stand to go through the motions with them it's a free 1.0 PIC for you.
I had a couple students like that...people I knew wouldn't be good enough even to solo and whom I seriously wouldn't trust with an aircraft by-themselves. But as long as they were committed to showing up for their bookings and paid the bills who was I to argue...I figured they would wash themselves out before I had to actually give them the boot. Dishonest...maybe...but it wasn't beneath my moral floormat so whatever, PIC time is all good.
