"OK" screen on cluster
HI, a friend of mine just told me that the dark screen on my speedo is a screen that should say OK when everything is OK to drive, and theres even a speaker underneigh. Problem is, it never worked on my red and doesent work on the black 90 I have, what the hell?

Is the back light out? It's a little LCD Screen.
There are controls for it on the lower left of the instrument cluster. (Under tach I think) Well, one of the posts is a push button and will do a self diagnosis.
Shine a flashlight on it while hitting the button, you should see some little animations... Look close.

He's right... IIRC, push in the **** that adjusts the clock... that triggers the autocheck system even if it's already run before. So shining a flashlight on it, and pushing the button down, you should see it display some stuff and 'OK'.
And anything critical that it would display (low oil pressure, water temp warning, low fuel, etc)... also beeps when it does it. So if you're driving on the highway and oil pressure drops, you'll hear the beep too.

IIRC no B4's came with a TC or AC in North America. They have to be retrofitted from a B3.

TC=trip computer
AC=Auto-check system
On cars without it, it's just a blank.
I had an '86 5000 that had the autocheck system, and it projected the symbols from behind onto the screen instead of using an lcd. Very nice clear images and no dead pixels to worry about.

Agreed, however, IIRC no B4's came with a TC/AC in North America. So IF he has one, someone has retrofitted it form a B3. I have done this in both my B4's and it is not hard, only because Scargo did all the research and made a excellent write up on his website

I have a very sensitive coolant level switch. When it goes off it really startles me. The car runs so quite it's like setting off an air horn. I even swerved one time when it went off...LOL
So, no B4 cars came with it? then what's in the little window?
