Default My 90q 3B project

Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted here. So this project has actually been going on longer than I'd like to admit. I first purchased the engine at the end of summer 2007. It's now 2010, but having just purchased a chunk of 034 real estate, and with the engine nearing completion I felt it necessary to start a project thread. I'm going to try and finish things up before the start of summer.

Anyway, this may sound like a shameless plug, but I've made a website to document the process. I'll go ahead and post a few pics here when I update something, but the majority of the posts will be on my website at: www.leydigproject.com/projects/audi90

It's still a work in process, but I've got the navigation down on all major browsers. Feedback is always welcome. Thanks, and I hope to be turbocharged soon.

Nice ride and nice site. I remember your car from back in the day. Sold my 90 in early 2005 though so I only come back occasionally. Good luck with the rest of the project!

I remember you and that red 90 from back then too - my inspiration to get those BBS RX rims. Looks like you got caught in the Subaru world, oh well...next best alternative.

That is a great site you have there. And I love the 90. I wish I had kept mine. But now I love my coupe. Good luck on finishing the project. Were all behind ya. Cheers!

Greg!

This past week or so I've been waiting for a lot of parts. We're starting to have some good weather so I started to strip and clean the interior. There was a lot of nasty *** mold/mildew in there; see the 'body' section.

I also got all the parts for a B4 front suspension change from a 90 at a local pick-n-pull. I had early stamped control arms so I needed more than just the ball-joints and control arms; see the 'suspension' section.

Well this sucks, after pulling off all the trim I can tell that this car's firewall has been bent. I'm going to continue anyway...the love runs too deep. Obviously, strut braces are in the future now.

First time I've gone this deep into the car. Straight to the firewall. Gotta remove the engine and fueling harness now...tips?

Default Wheel centered in fender well.....

From your site:
Swapping out a good chunck of the front end suspension for the updated late B3 and b4 version. Initially spurred by the need to make sure the new, updated B4 fenders centered around the wheel."

I'll be pulling the complete front end suspension from a 95 90q to put in my early CQ. Will this affect how the wheel is centered in the fender well?

The early cq has stamped control arms, but still has the 3-bolt ball joint critical to 'centering' the wheel in the wider fenders of the CQ and B4. To answer your question, it shouldn't affect the positioning at all.
