Im originally a vw guy but I purchased a 1991 90 20v quattro the other week Ive spent my life so far working for Porsche and Audi but unfortunately its only newer vehicles B5 and up

I know all the mechanics of the car and what I need to fix but as for the aftermarket upgrading I don't know what I do compared to what I know about VW

basically I'm interested in upgrading the lighting system
as the original equipment headlights are rather dull and I would like to put in a HID kit but not to be a pain to other drivers I would need to put projector headlights in, Ive seen and heard of headlight swaps from the RS2 or S2 with projector lenses, if anyone can verify that this is the case and they would work?

For the lighting, you don't need HIDs. Unless you plan on changing to a B4 hood, you can get the early 3B S2s H1/H4s which will fit the B3 hood and grill. I have the B4 H1/H4s, relayed, and it is plenty of light. Stock lights suck. You will have to figure out how to add turns to the city light, but it has been done.
