'91 CQ Headliner Upgrade/Replacement Writeup?
My '91 CQ headliner is being held up by thumbtacks.
I wish to upgrade the material to that used in the S-cars and keep the color the same.
Or, I am also open to any process where the headliner backing is treated or the headliner material is treated so it will never sag again.
Is there a write up of the replacement process? How can I purchase alcantara material in the same color as our beige headliner?

I just did this on my sedan, tried to do it myself first and was a pain
I finally took it to a car upholstery place and had it replaced with a foam backed material and they did a great job. But it was $200. The main issue is that the orange stuff the factory used is nasty stuff and needs to removed before redoing headliner.

I R&R'd my headliner last spring. It turned out well...
What you have to do is get the thing out in one piece. That's gonna be the hardest part. I did it by carefully pulling down the rear of the headliner and used a putty knife taped to a broom handle to get in there and separate it from the catch pan. I then removed the old fabric, cleaned the old orange backing off with a stiff, plastic bristled brush and took it to an upholtsery shop. I purchased the fabric from them and had them install it. Cost me all of $65. I then reistalled the headliner using velcro instead of trying to cement it back onto the catch pan. That way if it ever needs to come off again, it'll be MUCH easier.
