Default Suuuubies...

I've driven one old Subaru and it was nothing special. I've also driven a bunch of WRX STi's and those were **** loads of fun... lotsa Tourqe!

I get **** from my friends all the time about my car/cars. These are common...

"Hey... you just spent how much on parts for your car?"

"Why don't you just buy a new car"

"Why are you changing your oil again, I've never got an oil change on my car"

"Dude, give up on that damn thing it is always broken"

and so on...

I say:

My car is not always broken...
You got to spend $$ to maintain an old car which is still much better than a car payment...
I can't afford to buy a new car and my daddy can't buy me one like your gay eclipse...
No seriously... your Honda Pilot rules man...

I love my car (3rd Audi) and I will take **** from anyone all day long. You can drive what ever you want and say what ever you want but at least us Type 44 peeps rock'en some seriously sweet cars and having fun doing it.

Happy Turkey Day to all!

Default Yep

I find myself falling in love a little more and more everyday. I bought it back in September with 92,000 original miles. What a great car! Just needs a little TLC!

Default LOL... I love the banter in this forum.

LOL... yea... if someone is stupid enough to buy a Grand-DAMN then they really aren't worth listening to.

Dykes in Scoobies... what else is new. My hottie drives a BMW. I tried to talk her into an Audi but she went with BMW and then opted for AWD! I laughed.

PETA or Greenpeace... aren't those always on the back of VW vans and Westys?

Yea... keep 'em our secret. I loved keeping pace with an early 911 Turbo. the guy couldn't believe his rear mirror. FrankenAudi looked like death warmed over but... much like the Millenium Falcon... was "the fastest hunk of junk in the sector!"

Cheers guys. I needed that!

Default There's a tunnel in downtown Phx, AZ...

And it's not terribly long.

Only a 1.8 bar type 44 can go in at 70, come out at 125+, and stop at the top of the ramp (G60 fronts, wagon rears, ATE Super Blue)... ask the 2002 A4 with GIAC chip, the WRX with STI parts, and the 1996 Z28!

Anyone else know the blast from 7th St-7th Av?

I bought my first 44 in Jan 1996, still there is no substitute. It would cost well over $15k to buy something (new *or* used) which can take the measure of a chipped TQ in all areas!

Well, honestly I didn't know too much about these cars when I started getting into autos. One of my friends knew, and picked up a '86 5000 Turbo. Now, that was a serious rocket that was everything my old '92 Tercel wasn't. Comfortable, powerful, and handled decently. I especially loved the amber-lit gauge cluster. He ended up picking up an '86 5000TQ as well, shortly before I bought my GT-Four. We later found out his car was chipped, and holy crap was that fast.

However, he was a close friend of the family and all he ever did was boast about how his TQ was far superior to any other car. Unfortunately this rubbed off on my folks in a very wrong way. My 'Four broke down badly, and my Tercel was ready for the wrecker's. They co-signed on a loan for another car, and I found a nice, mint, 120K '90 200Q. The car was babied, and except for a tear on one of the seats was in perfect condition. Unfortunatey my folks nixed it. Even now, people are kinda amamant about me getting rid of the Celica to get a T44, which kinda sucks. However, this helps the typical T44 enthusiast. People typically sell these cars on the very cheap, and that means there's more than a few bargains for some good running cars out there if you look a bit.

As far as my friend? His car's down now, but only because he beat the living daylights out of it, stuff that would be seen as complete abuse. Even now I think he's able to walk right up to it and crank it over even with serious exhaust manifold cracks, a blown-out coolant system and other running faults. It's that toughness that's sold me on these cars.

Default My brother the Honda/Acura guy.

Never misses a chance to trash my car and audis in general. Everytime I take it in for work he says 'see that's why I don't drive those german cars.... they're not reliable'

When his TL got a bad head gasket I held myself back from saying anything.... but it was tempting.

Now I'm trying to sell my 200, but I'm having a hard time letting it go and might just try to keep it.

Default It not just Audi

I get flack for my Saab, too. You drive a Snaab? They don't even know where to put the ignition! They are so unreliable. You still have that bucket VW? It still runs?

Most people feel that driving a car is like getting food out of the fridge. Just something they need to do as part of every day life. As long as the fridge stays cold, they're happy. We all know there's more to driving than getting from A to B. It's their loss if they can't see that there's more to it.
