I've had my 91 200 turbo for about 7 years now, fell in love with audi when I was about 11 years old looking for cars with my dad. I'm 27 now but owned 2 audis since I was about 20. The first one was an 86 5000 turbo. My line of work is the dealership field and everytime I work on my car or talk about it people always put it down. I just don't get it. These cars are fully loaded and nice looking and drive well and can run for ever with general maintanance. I'm just wondering, am I the only one getting all this nonsense, or are there others like me out there? I gather there are a lot of clueless people on this planet, but this is ridiculos! Anyhow...I always say..it's our little secret. The fact that we can get a fully loaded german sedan with good looks for less then half the price of a go kart they call honda

Heres my secret. I got some flack from a neighbor a year and a half ago when I started my motor swap. "Why dont you just buy a new car" was what he told me. I told him I cars were my hobby, and that Im in no position to afford a newer car at the moment.
But really, when people say they dont like my car, it makes me happy, that means more of those cars for us to go around, as well as parts. I do NOT refer these cars to my friends for a reason. I take VERY good care of my cars and do NOT want somebody neglecting these cars. Selfish? VERY! Im protective of the older Audi's and would never want somebody who wasnt an enthusiast to own one, but thats my opinion. I sold my 85 4k to a friend over the summer. The car currently is in a sad state, and needing a headgasket. Oh well, my gain of 1000 bucks .
When people say my car is trash or junk, I just smile and shrug and thats all. When they hear the mileage of the car, where I take it, or what it can do, they shut up and go pay 350 a month for a 2003 Grand Am.

Had a friend with an 86 200 Avant and the thing must have been built on a Monday after a bender, because the car was constantly failing. It was in the shop constantly, while my car barely ever saw it. He didn't go around spreading poisen about the car, but after 3 years of problems he unloaded it in utter frustration. The thing is, when he bought it, it may have been under maintained, but it had no real problems when he bought it.

I on the other hand absolutely love mine - plenty of power (chipped to 290 hp) leather heated seats, air, roof, aftermarket HIDs, etc. It handles like its on rails and is oh so comfortable. I love it and will hate the day its gone, which will not be soon

I did get some crap from a woman at a gas station driving a Suby. She assumed that because I drove a big shiny Audi (must be new and very expensive - yeah, I paid $5,500 for it 4 years ago) that I had to be a some type of rich snob. Looks like I got the crap because of the car.... go figure.

11 years old mate!? Good stuff. I'm 19 and bought my own 1988 200 .. being in New Zealand there are hardly any around. Would oneday love to nab a 20 valve but for now Auto Front Wheel is good enough haha!

I previously took the old man's 100 too fast around an unfamiliar corner so now it lends a helping hand to my 200.

I've had people say these cars are built backwards and mates say to me "look what you did to your radiator!" when they peek at the body bashed 100.. The radiator is fine.. haha.

I love people not knowing a spot about my car. Except when people try to shift out of park and when I have to seek professional help.
