heres the deal.. its very cold .. car has been running great of late..
its an 91 100 nf engine.
just had fuel filter changed ,cap rotore, plugs, belts, etc.

car died in drive at a stop sign.. i still have electrical power and car turns over seems to be getting a spark!

when i tried to restart the car the fuel pump primed but would not turn off.. it just kept running continously!

Default Step 1: Pull ECU fault codes

Default Re: urgent help car just died! please

cant do that till morning..i also do not have the 2 diagnostic connectors.. i assume i can use the led blinker to blink them if i ground the negative to where???? and the positive into the fuel pump relay?

i believe its vapor locked.. this happened once before where i would not start and the next day it started like nothing happened..

thing is its the dreaded audi nightmare.. i have just cruised this for 2k miles no problems.. car had been sitting for 3 years before i bought, and its running better every day.

i have never had a stall or starting issue except that one time.

i really hope the timing belt is not broke.. the only thing i can recall is that when i slowed down at a stop it kinda sputtered. i changed most of the vaccum lines but i assume i could of gased it a little to hard and created a huge vaccuum leak?

also the the FPR is probably the original, along with the fuel pump, check valve, injectors and hall sensor!

at this point i am just stressing bad. i just had the car serviced with the air plate under the intake boot drilled out and re-positoned,along with fuelfilter ,air filter change, cap ,rotor, plugs, lube job etc..
the car has less than a 1/4 tank is it possible i am out of gas?

i have all electrical from lights to heat/vent.. but i cant be certain i am getting spark?

godda%n audi's i love to hate these biznitches

thanks in advance

any hints or quick ideas to check asap

Default To see if timing belt has broken . . .

Remove distributor cap and crank motor. If distributor rotor turns when the starter motor spins, the timing belt is okay. If it doesn't turn, the timing belt has broken.

Do you have a fuse in the fuel pump relay?

1 - RULE OUT Condition of Fuel Pump Relay and/or ignition Switch. To stop pump pull 15A Fuse #13 (12V to Fuel Pump from F. P. Rel. #10/ 52).

If Pump runs with ignition 'off', unplug (back of) Ign. SW. (page 94.11)
- (i) Not OK (still runs) replace Relay #10 = END.
- (ii) If OK (stops) try temp. new SW.; IF OK replace 'old' SW. = END.

Relay (Fuse B.loc. #10, see page 25.87 of manual) If no Book, Socket layout from top down; Left:47, 46, 53 Centre:48, 59, 52 Right:49, 50, 51.
A -Power Check: 48 & 50 = 12V; 46 & 50, 46 & 47 = 00V;
If not OK check wiring term #3(to 49) & #14(47) of 25 pin connector of Control Unit, and Ig. SW.

Ign. Sw. PIN 'outputs'(page 419) #50 to starter, AntiTeft Rel. & Auto Tran. Rel. #9/c2, #15 to rest.

B -Ignition on: 46 & 50 = 12V;
C -Starter 'on': 46 & 47 = min. 7V.

2 - 1/4 full (Faulty; Snagged or wrong sending unit = Replaced unit?)
Audi 100 = 21.1gal. (80 liters);Wagon = 20.6gal. (78 l).
Reserve (of total) = 2.1gal (8 l).

Estimate Fill up from 1/4 mark = 16.5gal (63 l)
To adjust gauge (page 90.9-.10, 91.11)requires sp. tool, however with a full tank you could fine tune 'full'; you would not know correct Reserve. Once car is Ok, make a point of filling tank @ 1/2, 3/4, & full and record same, before moving down to 1/4 or Reserve and recording same.

thanks man, i apprecaite it..

well later firiday night i went back and pulled the relay out of the fuse box and inserted it again.. it was so cold and my hands were sticking to my flashlight i was just about to leave for the night!

i decided to start it up and it cranked and started fine... well since my fuel pump cycles fine once again but today the same thing happened.. the car drove warmed up a little and would not restart.. so somewhere along the line i have an re start issue.. its 4% out and my tank is low i'm hoping i am just having a vapor lock issue..since my fuel pump is acting normal again my headache grow larger!
