I'm just curious as to all of your car washing habits. Do you guys go to the automatic car wash? Hand wash in the driveway? Don't wash just let the rain do it? (ouch) Do you wax your cars? Condition leather? Rainex the glass? Dress the tires? etc etc

I'm the hand wash it in the driveway type and I always keep the cars waxed or paint sealed. Leather is treated and I like shiny tires and love Rainex!

Being old and fat and uninterested in spending a lot of money to have my 18-year-old regular use automobiles repainted here in the rustbelt, I'm in the natural wash system crowd.

Handwash, wax. Once a year I do the 3 step mequiar polish(pre wax, swirl removal, cranuba polish) Light dress on the tires, hand wash the wheels. Simple Green engine compartment. Lexol on interior(cleaner and conditioner) Armor all the plastic inside. Never use the automated car wash stuff.

I use RainX Carwash, generally one panel at a time, rewetting drying panels (to keep entire car wet), then I go and use Wax-As-You-Dry when drying. I tried the good ol' Turtle Wax liquid wax, but my arms about fell off.

Then RainX glass cleaner + glass wax on the glass and Mother's Back to Black on the trim.

Favorite car I ever washed?
Hmm... that's hard. :P I loved the curves of a Boxster (and I assume would so on a Cayman). I've handwashed (i.e. no sponge) a 356 A and a 904 GTS before...

Silver metallic is the best color for not showing dirt and cleaning up the best, IMO. Black is the worst.

Dirty and a weekend. I dig out the toothbrush and rolling seat and just have some fun.

I'd say about 3-4 times during the warm season in Jersey.. I have a toothbrush in my hand.;-)

I use a high pressure wand once in a great while. I keep them fairly clean, but haven't spent much time detailing anything for a long time.

5000: rain wash, maybe car wash 2x/year A4: hand wash, treat leather, etc.
