Stock Radio
My stock audibose radio in my 90' 100 is real quiet and the speakers whine and squeel, sounds like a power problem. I heard it could be the radio that causes it and an aftermarket radio could fix it. i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and possibly had the wiring color code diagram.

Re: Stock Radio
it's not the radio, rather the 4 individual amps that run the speakers.
If you pull the radio out of the console, on the top of the radio is the wiring diagram, with pin positions to the speakers and power ect.
just so we're clear.. changing the radio will not fix your problem.

Re: Stock Radio
The Bose is an "active" system, which means it has its own unique seperate 4 individual amps located at each speaker.
To change the radio would mandate replacing each speaker, and a complete rewire to each new speaker. Nothing from the existing Bose system can be used with a new after market radio.
I learned this the hard way when replacing the "active" system on my daughter's VW Jetta a few years back. It was a real PITA.

Lurker says Not So! The stock Bose speakers will work just fine driven from a powered...
after market head unit, if the Bose amps are bypassed. BTDT.
Blaupunkt is the head unit of choice, inasmuch as the connectors are P&P with the Audi harness, only requiring the moving of 2 pins in the power harness connector.

Power Steering/Brakes
In the middle of the winter a problem with my power steering arose, making it extremely difficult to turn the steering wheel. Sometimes it's as easy as it should be but others not. My power steering fluid is low but not empty, any suggestions?
Also around the same time my breaks got real hard. The pedal is extremely hard to press yet again other times easier. My ABS light is always on in the dash. and the on/off button doesnt work on the console. Wondering if it's an ABS problem or other....(rear rotors have rust build up so I'm pretty sure the rear brakes aren't working properly either)
HELP!
