Default Paint Availability

Took car to the wash-yerself place to get a good 3 minute rinse from all the road salt and crap from all the snow we've gotten lately, and noticed a most disturbing site.

I guess someone bumped into me and totally forgot to leave a note or contact information or a blank check or an address where I can go beat the crap out of them. The bumper around the wheel well has been scuffed rather harshly. Pictures tell the story.

I can't recall running over anything that would cause that damage. We've had alot of snow that's gotten hard packed, but the wheel is a good 3-4" away from this flare, so I'd have to have thrown something good. I park on an empty driveway and usually park in the middle-of-nowhere at work except for that one day... I'll investigate the parking lot for paint chips.

The car's Panther Metallic, can I get this paint in an easy DIY way? I'd like to spray this over plus fix up a few other spots on the car myself as I'm somewhat handy with sandpaper. Or am I doomed to blend in gloss black?

Here's the overall damage. Massive paint removal from the wheel flare with very very minor damage to the primer coat (the little yellow streak). The entire bumper piece was dislodged enough that the large crack (with chunk missing) further down was sitting higher in front than in rear. Popped up and over itself a bit. Gentle wiggling reseated it.

Close-up of cracks. One was already there (the thinner one) and is now larger, the other is brand new and missing a nice chunk of plastic.

Another spot further back on the bumper, still the plastic but Panther Metallic. This is from another incident.

Left quarter panel. Like this when I got the car. Not sure what would cause a dent like this. NO panel bending what-so-ever. Just a round piece of paint missing, approximately dime sized. Picture makes it loose worse than it is, but I'd still like to get it covered.

Default panther black = LY9Z

ETKA doesn't list the paint in cans, but it lists a 300ml "spray set" (spray bomb i presume, probably one base, and one clear). Although it doesn't list a "spray can", so I'm not quite sure what the "spray set" entails. should be about $20 plus dealer rape fee.

Any paint shop should be able to make it, if you tell them the paint code.

L 0Y9 Z06 is the VAG PN for the spray set.

IMHO, looks like your bumper was repainted some time ago

Default All the panel gaps on the car are great, except....

For the gap between the right quarter panel and rear door. I thought this odd as all other gaps around that door are fine, but this one is slightly off (too wide). I'm wondering if the car wasn't bumped in the rear.

The dime-spot is on the left side, though.

When I discovered the boo-boo, I could rub the paint off with my thumb. It just peeled right off. Hmmmmmm.

I use them regularly, for their spray-can touch-up paint. Not the cheapest, but I've been happy.

IMHO, original paint can't peel off that easy

Ditto. Wasn't sure, tho, if it was b/c it was "bumper paint," designed for plastics.
