doh, throttle sticking, or something.
This morning (it was pretty damn cold), i was driving around, and when I would shift the engine decided not to slow down.
If i hit the clutch and stop without engine braking at all, the engine will stay at 2k5 - 3k rpm at the red light. kinda funny.
anyways - anywhere to lubricate real good that is a common problem?
I'll have a look around and see if i can figure something. It's done this once or twice before, on equally cold days..

Time to dig in the engine bay...
Confirm that your throttle cable is not binding or getting snagged on anything...
Also, manualy check your throttle plate by hand for binding...
If all that checks out...check ISV.

Re: Mine froze at the end of the throttle cable last year..
no binding in the cable or linkage, in my case sometimes I can bog the car down by letting the clutch out a little and it will stay where I put it. heh.
I need to check the ISV, just haven't gotten to it yet.

I came up with an idea today.
I'm not sure on this.
On the lefthand side of the throttle body, under the Al cover, there is a little "dashpot". sort of a strut so that the throttle plate slowly closes.
but _ i only seem to have problems when it is -20.
Perhaps this thing is just frozen?

I have the same problem in very cold weather. I just let the the engine idle for about 3min let it warm up and that way the throttle doesnt stick.
