Default Audi 5000CS turbo ignition control module

Hello all,
i am a recent owner of a 1986 audi 5000cs turbo quattro station wagon. The car drove well for a couple weeks until one day i stopped it, walked to the market and came back, it cranks but doesn’t turn on. For a few hours it didn’t work and then suddenly it turned on randomly, drove straight to the mechanic. Turned it off and that was the last time it turned on. We saw that there is no spark coming. First we thought it’s the crank sensor, got new one, didn’t fix the issue. The. We thought the distributor is bad, got a new one, didn’t fix the problem. Now we think it’s the ignition control module, but i cannot locate it where it is on the car, some people said it’s by the driver’s foot on the left where the hood openning handle is, but it’s not there. It’s not by the passenger right side either (that’s where the ECU is) i tried looking under the carpet under the driver seat there is nothing. It’s not behing the dashboard inside, and looked under the hood and couldn’t find it either. I am not sure honestly what to do next it’s been a couple months it’s sitting, at this point i’m thinking maybe it doesn’t have an ignition control module? And if not what is the problem then?
Thank you!

I would also suspect the ignition switch.

Are you sure that the pin that is pressed into the flywheel is still there. As the flywheel turn the pins will pass over the crank sensor telling the ECU that number one TDC is approaching. Without the pin the engine will never start.
