1990 Audi 200 stereo in safe mode?
Hello people of excellent automotive taste. I just bought i 1990 200 automatic and already love it even more than my 1989 100. anyways the stereo is stuck in safe mode and i cant find the sticker in the trunk. anyone have a clue how to get my unlock code? i called a few dealerships and they seemed puzzled by my question. if anyone knows where the sticker with the code is (not in my owners book i already checked) some help would be awesome. and if the sticker isnt there at all what are my options?

They will need your vin and the radio code off the back of the radio.

yeah they tell me i need to take it to a dealership, the closest being 3 hours away.. pay 51$ and wait an hour. im kind of annoyed i really wanted to keep the original bose system but if its going to be this much of a pain every time i disconnect the battery i may just replace it all.. sucks though i really wanted to keep the car 100% original...

Or you could just listen to Mr. Know it all.
Sometimes it's worth making a phone call

Did you check on the radio itself? Default code is something like 0000 or 1111.
Otherwise, as you found out, the only way to get the code is go to a dealership. They changed their policy a few years ago. Really, it's a good idea, even though it's a pain in the ****. Keeps people from steeling your radio and writing down your VIN, then just having to call and not prove ownership...
